Filed under: Uncategorized — miley08 at 3:27 pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2008

This lesson we focused again on doing more to our excel tables for portfolio item 5.

We learnt the complicated process of doing a pass and a fail on the table. and also doing grades. I really found this helpfuk.

This is my table attached. It shows the students marks in all their assessments and then an average, pass or fail, and what grade they were.

I have attached it below:

Workshop 8- 24th May 2008

Dear Diary,

In this workshop we concentrated on learning formuals in excell and working on our portfiolo item. As i really dont like excel i found this very helpful. At first I was having alot of trouble with adding everyones marks up  and doing %’s but once it was explained it was…

quite easy to do, as it was not that hard to do. I found this lesson very helpful as when i become a teacher it will be easy to use to graph how children are going in the term.

I will add my portfolio item next week

Portfolio Item 4

Filed under: Uncategorized — miley08 at 1:22 am on Thursday, April 17, 2008

Hey,

I have to say I reakon this is the best portfolio item we have had to do so far. I think that is because i love publisher. As a child i had lots of practice because Dad was always making me make up birthday cards, invitations and thankyou notes. It is always fun, to muck around with the colours, images, and text boxes.

I think everyone who wants to become a teacher needs to have a basic understanding about all the programs on the computer and i believe: word, paint, publisher and excel are only a few. So i think it is important to understand the basic functions.

 Till Next Time

Hannah

P.S. I did a hyperlink to my myspace but it doesnt seem to be working because it is in the wrong file or something soz.

Portfolio Item 3- 4th April 08

 Dear Diary,

This portfolio allowed us to gain a better understanding of what a web quest actually is. Before we started this topic, i had completely no idea what Mark was going on about. I was so confused and very worried and concerned of what i was required to do.Though after I completed this portfolio item i can now say i am alot more confident in exactly what a webquest is.  I will be writing another blog all about webquests to keep track, but for the moment i will just attach portfolio item 3 to this blog. This portfolio was to pick 2 web quests and write 200-400 words on each using the rubic. I marked the webquests using the rubric and then i wrote analysis on both of them.

Cheers. Laters

Workshop 4- 20th March 08

Today, i began a little worried whether i did the first task of attaching the competency task right. Firstly, we went through in the lesson discussing the difference between saving and publishing. As if you just saved it, then the public would not be able to see your entry, therefore for everyone to actually see it, you have to publish it.

Another thing I learnt that during this course i will need to use widgets ( search, cateorgies links) etc.

Also, I learnt how to add links to your blog, therefore i added Jess’s web blog to my blog. Therefore any time I wanted to look on her blog, I could quickly look at it without having to go through the process of typing her address out just click on her link.

Workshop 2- 13th March 08

Hey,

Today was a little bit of a messy lesson, because i was a little late which made me confused with what i had to do.  Everytime i use this blogging system I get more and more confident about using this website to blog weekly entries.

To be perfectly honest, I didnt know when i began how this course would benefit my teaching degree. But, going on my first pract on tues the teacher used a smart board, and i immediately was worried because they looked very hard to use. So, hopefully this course allows me to gain confidence on other programs on the computer, so i am not too worried when i go to my school and have to use smart boards.

Not Much More to Add

Workshop 1- 28th Feb 2008

This is my first entry to my blog. My score for the Competency Test was 37. I think i did alright, and it shows that i have a basic knowledge about some programs on the computer. As i was going through the test, I noticed that at the beginning I was confident in most areas, but not confident enough to put a cross in the 4th box.  This shows that I know the basic functions of a computer, but are not confident enough to explain to someone else. Which essentially is what teaching is all about explaining new concepts and computing programs to someone else. My strengths in ICT are doing things such as word processing, saving word documents etc. Yet my weaknesses are using other programs such as spreadsheets, graphic organsiers, video editing and use etc.

I believe this class will be an important learning experience for me as i will be able to use the computer with confidence in the classroom and also be able to teach it to my students.

Here are the results of my Competency Test

 Alrighty catch ya later
